About Me

I have been involved in Falconry since 2004. After a great deal of research and an intensive falconry course my first Bird of Prey was purchased – a female Harris Hawk for the pleasure of Hawking and hunting alongside my Springer Spaniel Sophi.

In the first few years of Falconry I completed Lantra Courses and frequently hawked in Scotland with Harris Hawks and A Golden Eagle.

In 2008 I embarked on setting up Ancient Art Falconry and it has been the most enjoyable and rewarding time of my life passing on my experience to the general public. I am so lucky to have the best job in the world.

I have become a Lantra Assessor – my four day course is designed for those people who wish to own a Bird of Prey –it teaches all the basics of falconry for owning your own bird of prey.

I have been teaching in schools and there are some testimonies on the education page which are very touching. But if one child out of each class I teach works in conservation in the future then it means I have continued the work of falconry for the future generations and we still have Birds of Prey in the countryside for many years to come.

I have been doing a lot of bird control – especially with seagulls – I remember as a child that when we were approaching the sea and we heard the sound of the seagull we knew that we were near the sea and it was a competition to see who could see the sea first. Sadly now it is a different matter for those of us that live near the sea (and those who actually don’t) seagulls are everywhere and some gulls don’t even know what the sea looks like. We as a nation have fed the gulls and in our case in Devon and Cornwall – the pasty! And of course the ice cream. Sadly the gull has decided that they will come down and take the pasty/ice cream out of the hands of babes! It is only a matter of time that the gulls will harm a child or even an adult that will be life changing – we need to educate people not to feed the gull. Get them to retreat back to the cliff tops and the sea for their food and we can then say to our children – listen can you hear the seagull? The first one to see the sea gets a …..

Among the many things I do will be corporate days or team building days in flying/handling. Have a look at all the experiences I offer and see what suits your team I can accommodate whatever you wish.

In my gallery you will some of my birds and a bit about them alongside you will see the history of falconry.

In my blog I will try and give an interesting fact on birds of prey – please forgive me if I don’t make it once a week!
